Mele Kalikimaka

We Had our Christmas party in Hawaii before we left for Canada with my brother, sister and her boyfriend Santiago. We had our gifts under the tree, and a little feast. The next day we left for Honolulu, where we spent the night before heading to Canada for Tenzin's first Christmas in the snow!!

Little Nipper

Tenzin got his 6th tooth today, now he has four on the top, two on the bottom. The space was nice, because when he would bite me, the nipple would have a little way out. I'm *hoping* that now that the teeth are in, there will be no need for nipping :)
Well, Tenzin did get his two front teeth for Christmas, although he can't say Merry Chrisssmas yet, He is learning how to kiss. (very important since everyone in Hawaii does the cheek kiss) He just grabs your by the ears and smashes his face into your cheek for a few seconds. It's very sweet. If he really loves you he'll do the cheek lick, or try to suck your entire cheek into his mouth.
I don't have to wonder what the meaning of life is anymore. This is it.

Parallel Universe

I wonder what Tenzin thinks when he sees himself in the mirror? Sometimes he makes himself laugh. Sometimes he tries to crawl through the mirror and bangs his head. Sometimes he plays, responding to himself. Sometimes he scares himself.
Sometimes he waves bye-bye to that little boy on the other side.

Laughing at the moon

Tenzin has been laughing at the moon the last few nights.
His top tooth cut through, so we are sleeping much better now :) Tonight we had the Christmas party with Tai's company, it was fun and we got a hammock in the gift exchange. It will be great for swinging with Tenzin.
We just got an e mail from our good friend Nyima who is a Tibetan and former monk. I tutored him for two months when we lived in Dharamsala. He took me to the Dalai Lams's office to get Tenzin's name. Well, he and his girlfriend just had a baby daugher and her name is Tenzin too!! They were both born in 2005, it just seems really special. I'm going to send them some things, and some money since they have very little.
I have been so happy all day thinking of a little baby girl with the same name so far away. I hope Tenzin and Tenzin can meet someday.
We will be leaving on our trip next weekend!! I wanted to send this picture of Tenzin along with a "Merry Christmas!" Just incase some of you don't get your card in time... And for Auntie Pema and Grandpa & Grandma that are off having amazing adventures in Asia. WE LOVE YOU!!
For our loved ones near and far, Laugh at the moon, we'll be laughing at the same one.
Sending you lots of love, and peace all year long.
Keri, Tai and Tenzin*

Sleep deprivation

Again I should be sleeping. Our entire family is becoming insomniacs over the impending tooth.
It should cut tomorrow.
We are busy preparing for Christmas, Christmas parties, our trip, and a garage sale this weekend!! Tenzin is being a lovely curious little guy these days, getting into everything as he should be.
We've been having fun even though seriously sleep deprived.

Funny Baby

Tenzin is taking his nap, I should be too.... I haven't been sleeping much, and I do whatever I can at night to keep Tenzin quiet so that Tai can sleep (which means NOT putting Tenzin in his cot where he will scream.) So many people are telling me to let him "cry it out" and he'll learn to sleep by himself. That isn't working for us. One father said, I know you don't want to hear your baby cry, but if you don't get sleep you can't be the best parent the next day. It's very true.
I am hoping his night restlessness is just associated with his last front tooth, which has kept him up the the past.
My brother Mick is arriving today, to stay. Now Tenzin will have his auntie and uncle here. Mick's excited, it will be his first time to Hawaii, his first time in the tropics, and actually his first time anywhere. He's going to love it! We're off soon to throw him a welcome party at the beach, I made pineapple shrimp cabobs. Should be fun.
Here's some pics of Tenzin being his funny self!

Getting ready for Christmas

Well, it's that time again. But for Tenzin it's the first time! We are SO happy that we'll be going to Canada for Tenzin's first Christmas, so he can play in the snow! I'm a little concerned about the clothes issue though.... He doesn't like to put on a t-shirt, I wonder how he'll do with a few layers and and snowsuit, and mittens, and a hat.... He won't really have time to get used to the cold either.
Even though I don't like all of the manditory holiday related consumerism, I just really like giving people gifts!! I'm getting all my packages that need to be sent together, and really love to do it. I think I'm going to get Tai a surfboard for Christmas since I guy we know is moving back to Australia and selling one.
Tenzin and I have been taking care of another baby 16 hrs. a week. His name is Xavier and he's 2 months old. It's starting to go a little better, and Tenzin is getting used to having him around. Having two little ones is quite the job, but sometimes they both sleep too.
Lately Tenzin has been waking up at 5 am, so I am feeling pretty tired by 8 at night.
Well, I guess I'm off to bed.

Favorite Things

Tenzin's new favorte things are:
standing, and learning new falling techniques
green beans and brown rice
going on the baby swing at the park
waking up in the middle of the night just to see what's going on....
talking on the phone
saying "boppa" (or pappa we think) He got Mamma down so it's time to work on pappa.

I like to call him a rascalfarian, because he is that for sure.
I hope we can sleep tonight ;)

Blog for me Mamma

I never liked Blogs, who reads other peoples blogs...? I guess after having a baby I do a lot of things I never fancied before. Here's two pictures Pappa took without us knowing! We both fell asleep after a painful teething session, the other we were about to take a family photo and pappa was setting up the tripod. sneaky.
I figured I had better get writing, everything is happening SO FAST for Tenzin right now. He started crawling, then he started crawling super speed, and he's now standing up- all within two weeks!!! My little unscathed dumpling is now bumping his head and eating poisonous plants. Tai said the other day "remember when he would just lay there?"
"Yeah................."
Tenzin, you are amazing. There is nothing better. For You I will do anything, even blog.
